Parent Involvement
At Thumbelina Nursery school, parents and families are recognized for the important role they play in childrens’ learning and development. Family involvement is promoted through:
- Monthly Family Events – Each month, the school plans an event such as a picnic, zoo visit, etc. for the families of the school. These events encourage children, families and teachers to form strong, trusting relationships in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
- Open-door policy – At Thumbelina, we have a true open-door policy. Parents are welcome to sit in on a class at any time. While we do not require parents to volunteer in the classroom, they are always welcome to join our classes.
- Monthly newsletters – Each month we send out a monthly newsletter updating parents on what subjects we are learning about, activities we have planned as well as our family event for the month.
